I'm sure most everyone has dealt with a chipped windshield at some point. This is especially true for RV'ers that tow a vehicle behind the motorhome. If left unrepaired the chip will eventually start to grow and show cracks in the windshield. It's important to repair the chip as soon as possible.
I recently experienced a chip in the windshield of my Jeep and within a day was starting to crack. There are plenty of brands of repair kits available. I chose to go with Permatex Windshield Repair Kit 09103. I don't know if one is better than the other but I was familiar with the Permatex brand name. The kit comes complete with everything you will need except a paper towel to clean up.
The directions are very good and gave a step-by-step process that was easy to follow. (A link to the PDF file of the directions is below). I first cleaned the window and applied the applicator bracket on the windshield.
After putting the resin in the applicator I used the included syringe to first remove any air bubbles then force the resin into the chipped windshield.
After twenty minutes I removed the applicator from the windshield and added more resin and applied the drying strip. In the end, the chip virtually disappears. It did not remove any of the spidering of the glass I already was experiencing. The whole process takes a bit over an hour since you need to wait after each step to allow the resin to work and dry.
