It has been some time since I owned my last pick-up truck. I recently purchased a new 2025 GMC Canyon. As I normally do, I started shopping for some accessories. My priority was a tonneau cover. Things have changed since I last purchased one, and to my surprise, so have the prices, but so has the quality. I researched what was available for what seemed like weeks. I had certain features I wanted, and it seemed like everything I found had a deal-breaker feature. Instead of writing about what I didn't want, like, or need, let me just tell you what I chose and why.
I want to first say that the price is not cheap, but in the end, I do think it is a top-quality bed cover. I elected to purchase a RealTruck UnderCover ArmorFlex Hard Tri-Folding bed cover. This is a very high-quality cover. It has three hard panels that can be opened one at a time. It has no buttons to push or keys to unlock, which was a must-have feature I wanted. It's 2025, and I am not carrying a key so I can access my truck bed.
The UnderCover ArmorFlex locks into the siderails and can be opened from the underside of the cover once the tailgate is opened. My GMC Canyon has a locking tailgate, so this was exactly what I was looking for. It offers a good level of security and a very low profile with the truck bed. It opens one panel at a time and can be secured in several open positions.
The RealTruck UnderCover Truck Cover has aluminum panels and comes in three finishes: the UnderCover Flex, which has a high-gloss black finish, the UnderCover Ultra Flex, which has a matte black finish, and the UnderCover Armor Flex, which has a premium Line-X coating. The Line-X is a specialty automotive coating with a somewhat textured matte black finish. This coating claims to resist abrasions, impacts, and extreme abuse.
The installation was so easy; I would give it a 1 out of 10 difficulty rating. I used a Philips Driver and a 1/2 inch ratcheting wrench. The total installation time was approximately thirty minutes. It comes with the cover, two side rails, two drain tubes, a head gasket, two tie-down clips, and six rail mounting clips. You can watch the total install in the video below in almost real-time. Overall, I am delighted with this cover. It is low profile, operates smoothly, has superior quality, and looks great. I will leave links to all three covers that RealTruck UnderCover offers, as well as the tools I used, below.
