Three Great RV Upgrades For The MORryde Steps On My Geo Pro – Step Covers – Step Lights – Feet Pads

MORryde RV Steps

Our new 2026 Rockwood Geo Pro has the MORryde StepAbove Steps. MORryde and Lippert drawbridge-style steps have become popular in today's RV market and are now standard equipment on most RVs. I will say they are so much better than the steps of yesteryear. They deploy easily and have a firm feel when entering or leaving the RV. Our dog, however, wasn't as enthused about them as I was. I decided to add some step covers to give her more confidence when going up or down the steps. This started what usually happens to me, a chain reaction of several upgrades and mods.

MORryde step covers

To start with, the step covers, there are a few companies that offer both generic and specific covers for the MORryde and Lippert RV steps. I chose to go with the step covers from MORryde. They have a rubber-type feel to them and have grooves to help with grip. To prep the steps, I needed to remove the anti-slip strip on the front of the steps. Once removed, I cleaned the steps with some rubbing alcohol. The step covers have a self-adhesive backing and need a clean surface to adhere properly. They go on very easily and fit perfectly. They feel great under your feet when entering and leaving the RV and provide good traction.

Lippert Motion-Activated RV Step Lights

The next addition to the steps I decided to add were some motion-activated step lights. There is no shortage of these types of lights, but I decided to go with the Lippert brand. The Lippert RV Step Lights are robust and weather-resistant. These are not some inexpensive strip lights. The lights feel solid and have a rubber-type coating over the LED portion to protect them from the elements. They are motion-activated and only work in low light or the dark. This helps save on battery consumption, which is a whopping 6 AA batteries. I decided to use lithium batteries to help with longevity. They install easily with a self-adhesive metal strip and magnets. Once activated, they stay lit for about ten seconds after motion is no longer detected, which I find to be about perfect. They have a yellowish glow to them and give enough light without being harsh.

MORryde steps foot and leg

The last upgrade to the steps is more of a mod. The feet on the MORryde steps are small, metal, and movable. This allows them to occasionally slide and move a bit. This is more so when resting on concrete. Putting some type of door mat under the feet would surely help, but I wanted something a little more permanent. I cut some 1/4 inch rubber mat the size of the foot and glued them to the bottom of each foot. I used Sashco Lexel clear adhesive to attach the rubber, and so far it has held with no issues. This gives the steps a very solid feel when taking that first step to enter or exit the RV. It has also eliminated any metallic sound from the feet rubbing on the ground. This is a very easy mod and, in my opinion, worthwhile.

Overall, these three upgrades to the MORryde steps have greatly enhanced their comfort and safety. You can see the links below to all the products I used, including some other options. You can also watch the video of the installation of all three below.
