Upgrade Your RV Experience With The Airlock One System for Cleaner Air

Airlock One air purifier

Anyone who has an RV is familiar with the many smells that can linger inside. There are pet smells, food smells, holding tank smells, and musty smells, just to name a few. Air fresheners attempt to mask the odors, not clean the air. The way I tackle odors in my trailer is with the Airlock One. The Airlock One is an ionizer air purifier that installs easily to each air conditioning unit in the RV. According to Airlock's website, the Airlock One is not an ozone generator; it uses advanced ionization technology and is UL 867 Certified, which ensures it meets strict safety standards for ozone emissions. They also state you get clean, purified air without harmful ozone, safe for enclosed spaces like boats and RVs.

I have used very similar technology in my home HVAC system for the past four years, and am a fan of these types of ionizers. What I love is not what you smell but what you don't smell. Walking into the RV, I am greeted by clean, fresh air. The Airlock One actually neutralizes odors, mold spores, allergens, and other airborne pollutants. It does this by producing negative and positively charged ions as air is passed by its brushes, which clump pollutants together, allowing them to fall from the air or get filtered by the air conditioning unit.

Installation was straightforward and can be handled by most people with some electrical knowledge. It mounts inside the RV's air conditioning in front of the air intake or air return. It is a small unit and can be adapted to almost any type of RV air conditioner. Once a mounting location is determined, it connects directly to the air conditioners' 120V supply line. The Airlock One can be left on continuously. For those who leave their RV plugged into shore power when in storage, simply turning the A/C breaker off will power down the unit. This is what I do. I connected the Airlock One to the 120V hot wire and the 120V neutral wire and mounted it using the supplied magnetic strip. It is completely silent and has a small blue light that indicates it is powered on.

That's it, once the initial install is done. No maintenance or switches to worry about. It took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. It works silently within the RV's air conditioning to deliver clean, refreshing air. I also added some upgraded aftermarket filters to the A/C unit, such as ones from RV Air or Filter Time RV. These do a much better job at filtering pollutants than the manufacturer's stock filters.

Overall, this is one of my favorite RV upgrades so far. We go camping to enjoy the fresh air, and with the Airlock One, we do. Airlock also makes a smaller complementary unit called the Airlock Voyage. This is a small unit that plugs into 120V or 12V, designed for small, confined spaces such as a bathroom. It does not replace the Airlock One but enhances it. You can watch my complete installation of the Airlock One in the video below. I have also listed links for the Airlock One and the tools I used for the installation.
